In practice, mindfulness may utilize many tools, including:
- focusing on one or more sense at a time
- listening to instrumental music, nature sounds or chants
- meditation
- breathwork
- stroking a pet
- becoming engaged fully in making art or a craft
- gentle movement like walking, yoga or running
- pausing to be present in your life, right where you are
